The main power of the Lok sabha has its speaker. The speaker of Lok sabha has been chosen by the sitting members of Lok sabha. After the general election, the speaker is elected in the first meeting of Lok Sabha. The term of the members of Lok Sabha is 5 years. Traditionally the Lok sabha speaker post is given to the member of the ruling party. Presently Om Birla is the speaker of the Lok sabha.
